Under this project to upgrade the emergency power system at Building 12 Kekolu was tasked with the removal of the current 208V, 30 KW diesel generator and 150 A automatic transfer switch (ATS) currently supplying emergency power to the DLA computer network uninterruptable power system. The work also included the relocation of the existing natural gas-powered generator and 400 A ATS from one building to another. Kekolu also coordinated this project’s new site work and concrete to accommodate the relocated generator, refurbishing the generator enclosure, and other aspects of the project.
This newly awarded SABER Contract at Hill AFB in Utah was awarded to our Joint Venture Company Kekolu-Rio Vista Joint Venture. Under this SABER we furnish all management, supervision, labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required for a broad range of maintenance, repair and minor construction work on various real property facilities at installations covered by the contract. This contract also includes design and engineering services. Task orders range in size between $25,000 and $1,500,000 and will include disciplines that include, but are not limited to: demolition, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, welding, pipe fitting, sheet metal, roofing, site work, site utilities, excavation, landscaping, concrete, masonry, pavements, fencing, asbestos and lead base paint abatement, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) design and installation, Access Control Systems (ACS) design and installation, fire alarm design and installation, fire suppression design and installation, communication networks and systems, Video TeleConference (VTC) and Secure Video-Conference (SVTC) system design and installation and systems furniture removal, repair and installation.
This MQ 25 tower was a design build project located on Patuxent River NAS. The tower is for the new Boeing MQ 25 Stingray aerial refueling drone and will assist with its fueling. Under this project our company provided all civil, structural and electrical engineering. Additional technical requirements required a line of site analysis for acceptance by the FAA. This project’s definable features included new concrete foundations for the tower and RF shelter, concrete parking area located within the fenced compound and asphalt to support two secondary support trailers.
Kekolu is very excited about its most recent award for Mechanical and HVAC work which requires us to perform multiple projects simultaneously while utilizing many different disciplines. These projects range between $2,000 and $2,000,000. Kekolu successfully manages this contract for the Naval Research Development Establishment and supported Commands at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River and Naval Support Facility Indian Head and Naval Support Facility Dahlgren. For this project Kekolu provides commercial, industrial and institutional construction services with minimal design for new construction, repairs, rehabilitation, renovation and alterations while providing all labor, materials, supplies, parts, plant, supervision, tools, transportation, equipment and related services. Many mechanical disciplines are performed for this contract and include but are not limited to plumbing, sound and vibration control, ventilation and exhaust systems, basic mechanical materials and methods, plumbing and piping for HVAC, testing/adjusting/balancing, instrumentation and controls, boilers, chillers and cooling towers and unitary HVAC equipment.
For Building 5797, Kekolu was tasked with its complete demolition and renovation. This project was completed well within the time frame for a scheduled ribbon cutting ceremony with our First Lady. Details of the work included replacing the roof, demolishing and replacing all interior walls, ceilings and flooring, and installing a fire alarm system with mass notification. This project also involved: removing and replacing the existing lighting system with all new LED fixtures; removing and replacing the existing HVAC system (including all duct and diffusers) with new; removing and replacing all plumbing fixtures (new sinks, toilets and water fountains): removing old automatic entry doors and replacing with new; and removing and installing all outlets, switches and lights. Our Government customer has been excited about the revival and presentation of this building.
Kekolu installed 704 light fixtures to the main conference rooms and entrances. There were 11 different types of LED light fixtures installed to replace the existing fluorescent fixtures. Kekolu also installed and programed all Lutron dimming modules and wireless controls. This project was such a success that upon its completion, our customer immediately began plans to complete the install throughout the rest of the building.
This project was for repair/renovation of Subway/Dominos restaurant at Andrews AFB. We performed all operations associated with the removal/abatement of asbestos, interior renovation and life safety alterations throughout entire facility, including:
In addition to upgrading all dumpster enclosures this project also required the installation of an electric slide gate system to included a pedestrian access door, automatic electric gates, installation of electrical controls, protective bollard installation and the installation of perimeter fencing.
The repairs to the Virgina Avenue Track required us to retexture the entire running track, rework landscaping along perimeter of track, remove/replace damaged boarders on playground set, repair handicap access, install asphalt walkways and restripe, and new electrical for light pole repairs.
The renovations to the Tactical Fit Building required us to demolish all current flooring and replace it with synthetic tile matting. Existing floor was leveled with a self leveling compound, prior to the new flooring and coatings, to achieve a uniform installation. The project also included installation of boxing equipment, electrical outlets and TV connections.
This Flightline Gate Repairs project tasked us with demolishing five (5) slide gates, tracks and posts and replacing them with new. In addition, 400 feet of airfield fence was painted and 60 feet of fence was demolished. Repairs also included replacing damaged brick and latching mechanisms for gates.
The repairs to the US Army Priority Air Transport Command Facility at Andrews AFB Involved a full fire detection and suppression systems revampment (included all devices, alarms and panels). The renovation of the men’s and women’s restrooms and new building addition. The building repairs included all finish work involved with constructing a 400 SF kitchen addition and a 200 SF addition for a fire suppression riser. Disciplines included: electrical, appliances, plumbing, HVAC (ductwork, registers/grilles, fire dampers and emergency shut offs), flooring, paint, ceilings, roof repairs, interior finishes and the construction of exterior awnings.
This project required us to demolish and replace AHU, Boilers, associated pipes, pumps and valves. It also required the evaluation, design and replacement for the building’s hot water heating system. Existing boilers were demolished and removed, installed new boilers, AHUs, pumps, hydronic de-coupler, associated piping, valves, strainers, seperators, gauges, flues, insulation and controls.
This project required H1 to upgrade three new fire pump systems and all corresponding component’s that run, operate, and control the pump operations. This involved the removal of the building siding from the building envelope in order to access the pumps that needed repair. This action exposed the 16″ incoming supply line and outgoing high pressure distribution line joints and connections. The project rans smoothly under our management and our Government customer was pleased with our efficiency and quality of work.
Sidwalks curbs and gutters were provided for 2500 LF around facilities at Andrews AFB in addition to 300 LF of asphalt which led to a wilderness track. Crosswalk sections were added and a pedestrian walkway to help patrons stay off the main road. All handicap accessibility standards were met throughout.
We completed this project for Joint Base Andrews who provided an MQ-1 Aircraft that was to be presented as a museum style display at building 3501 Sheppard Hall, Air National Guard Headquarters within the lobby area inside the building. The project consisted of providing a design to fabricate and install four hanging brackets to the existing roof structure with the structural integrity to support the static display aircraft. A 40′ articulating man lift was used to access the ceiling area within the lobby. The roof was x-rayed, a load study was performed on the existing conditions to ensure structural integrity.
Structural engineers designed 4 brackets capable to support 4,000lbs (4.0X load) each. The brackets were fabricated and installed per the stamped engineered drawings. Each bracket was load tested by the engineer with a 4,000lb load with 0% of deflection of any kind. We then assisted the Air National Guard with hoisting and attaching the MQ-1 on the new brackets. All ceilings were then patched and painted.
The swimming pool repairs involved both the adult and children’s pools and consisted of a large array of disciplines used to repair the pools and the surrounding area including renovations to the pool house. Upgrades included pumps, water treatment tanks, pipe, valve, and gasket replacement, concrete repairs and installation of new handrails. The project was under an accelerated schedule in order to have pool and area completely ready for the Labor Day weekend. Renovations included new deck, outdoor carpet, indoor pool house finishes, hot water installation etc.
This task order involved the repairs to an Air Force Hangar damaged by cold weather and strong winds. The project involved demolition of all damaged items, to include: lighting, fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC, gas lines, and insulation. The repairs included: installation of new fire suppression system, replacement of water pipes, valves, and fixtures; replacement of radiant heaters and all gas pipe connections, replacement of eye wash stations and drinking fountains and replacement of all hangar lighting (including power wiring), repair/replacement of damaged bird netting and insulation.
This project at Andrews Air Force Base was for the complete renovation of the on-site tennis and basketball courts. Work started with demolishing the old courts. The renovation included raised courts and new landscaping surrounding it to prevent storm run off. Courts were completed with milled asphalt, surrounding walkways, new piping and controls for exterior lighting, new upgraded fencing and the renewal of all court accessories.
Currently in its first year of this seven-year SABER contract, Kekolu is successfully managing over 20 projects which range between $17,000 and $654,903.00, meeting all of our project schedules with no delays and excellent feedback from the client. Work under this contract is being performed at many different locations including JBA and its mission partner sites Davidsonville, Brandywine and AF Memorial and JBAB and its tenants. Kekolu manages many different disciplines simultaneously under this contract, including structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, communications, intrusion/detection, audio/visual systems, and electrical disciplines, petroleum/oil/lubricants systems, asphalt and concrete pavements, masonry, various roofing systems, earthworks and landscaping, aerial and underground utilities, power and heat generation, and more.
This Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) IDIQ is to provide repairs, renovations, minor construction, maintenance and alterations to real property at JBA, JBAB, and its mission partner sites. Under this contract, Kekolu provides quality construction management at multiple locations, simultaneously utilizing multiple disciplines, including bid-build and design-build construction of a broad range of maintenance, restoration and modernization (R&M), repair/alteration, demolition, and renovation of real property of high complexity projects.
Under this design/build project, Kekolu provided a 5,000 SF interior renovation to expand a controlled space on a SCIF portion of building 1413. Work included architectural, mechanical and electrical demolition and new construction. The work also included relocating the existing security systems, relocation of fire alarm systems, and new communication infrastructure. Other disciplines performed included build out, finish work (acoustical ceilings, walls, flooring, data systems, electrical, plumbing and HVAC).
Under this Facility Management Contract on JBA in Maryland, Kekolu has been subcontracted 15 task orders to date totaling $885,818, ranging in price between $7,450 and $314,000. Many of the task orders were performed simultaneously utilizing many different disciplines, including: roofing (asphalt shingles, roof curbs, duct work connections), ice/water shield, window coverings, protective wall coverings, hand rails, breaker boxes, conduits circuit panels, electrical, plumbing, Dutch doors, interior finishes, interceptor drains/drainage lines, manholes, concrete, excavation, demolition, exhaust fans, blower fan bearings, transformers etc. Some task orders have been successfully performed under confined space entry requirements and in occupied buildings.
This expedited 19-day project required us to renovate a private office for the commanding general of the US Space Command to meet ICD/ICS 705 construction requirements for a SCIF. Disciplines performed for this project included: demolition, doors/frames/locks, security systems (control panels, detectors, sound masking), interior finishes.
This project required us to repair a broken underground pipe that created a large sink hole. In addition to repairing the area so that it did not look disturbed, we also repaired a damaged curb and gutter. All work was expedited through an emergency task order to avoid further main roadway damage. Upon completion of the repair the entire storm drain piping was inspected with a robotic camera and the video was turned over to the Civil Engineer Squadron for reference and possible future repairs.
This project required us to provide all new electrical power system and back up generator service to the Brandywine area of Prince George County. We were tasked with providing and installing all transformers, conduits, and generators. Disciplines performed were concrete, electrical, excavation, fencing, manholes, ductbanks and underground raceways.
Project for renovations to the West Fitness Center at Joint Base Andrews which included renovating the men’s and women’s locker rooms, restrooms and saunas; repairs to the basketball court and renovation of fitness center interior lobby and exterior entrance. Disciplines performed were interior/exterior demolition, new architectural finishes, new LED light fixtures, life safety alarms, HVAC work, interior/exterior doors, flooring, finish carpentry (painting, moisture resistant walls and ceilings), storefront vestibule and handicap accessible entrance.
Hangar bay lighting was upgraded to include lighting design survey on the storage side, the airplane mechanics side and the industrial side. Work included all new LED light fixtures, switches and controls.
The RV Parking lot repairs involved everything from excavating the old asphalt to installing new light poles, panels and circuits. The project also included all storm water, erosion and sediment control, installation of new geo grid soil stabilization fabric, all new pavement and necessary drainage systems, removal and replacement of fencing with new vinyl coated chain link and barbed wire (including manual opening sliding gates), pavement striping, and the replacement of track lighting controls, and light poles.
This project allowed us to create and install a 180 yard covered walkway between buildings. Walkway acted as a protection from inclement weather and provided lighting for pedestrians. Disciplines included awnings, standing seam metal roofing and trim, soffit and structural framing, architecture work, site excavation, concrete/masonry, roofing and fascia.
